Don't ignore your blessings

Yes I have taken on a second job. It's just a seasonal position at a popular electronic store. And yes I didn't put the application in until after I was offered a position.

Well we are starting are Total Money Makeover (Dave Ramsey book) and I really wanted to tackle it head on.

Baby Step 1 - Save 1,000 Emergency Fund (so you don't have to used credit cards).

Okay $1,000 is not a whole lot of money, but it's a hard thing for us to hold on to all at once. I told my husband I should take on a second job for the holidays to get this money as fast as we can.

A couple of days later I told my husband I was having second thoughts about getting a second job, because I really enjoy being home now (working from home). So Wednesday night I prayed to God for help with my finances and to guide me to what I needed to do.

Thursday I started work as usual. All of a sudden I get an instant message from a fellow worker that an old Supervisor who no longer works for our Company was working at an Electronics store was trying to get a hold of me about a seasonal job. I had not told anyone outside our family about looking for a second job and really hadn't started looking. Plus, I work for a company of about 1200 employees so this was just crazy.

So, it turned out the phone number she gave me was the wrong number. So, I shrugged it off. Then a couple of hours later this past Supervisor of mine called me at home. She said I popped into her head last night when she was thinking of someone who could fill this position. She asked me to put my application in online and she would pull it.

I put my application in on Thursday and on Friday I received a call for an interview this coming Thursday. The interview would be done by a another person. It just so happens that the person doing the interview was someone I worked with several years ago at Wal-Mart and we had a great working relationship.

I told my husband that God has blessed me with this opportunity and there is no way I could ignore it. I'm so excited.

Another beginning

Well I've been gone for a long time, but I haven't given up because this is a lifetime journey.

I've been taking a look at all the things of my life and realized I need to be healthy in all aspects of my life, not just my body, so I took some time to gather all my thoughts and figure out what things I want to be better at.

My first choice was to be a better mother/wife. I volunteered to start working from home and I love it. I have been able to be home if I'm needed and still get my work done. During my own lunch time I take the time to plan for dinner. This is a big deal because we were eating out all the time! Plus, I even get to work my schedule out where I can volunteer at my children's school and help out while they walk around the track.

Next, I decided to get Financially fit. I have always worked out a budget and still seemed to never get my finances right. I clipped coupons and searched for bargains, but still bought impulsively. My husband introduced me to Dave Ramsey. Wow!! what a wake up call. With all my number smarts I realized I was still stupid. I went to the library and checked out his books "Financial Peace (revisited)" and "The Total Money Makeover" and we are now on our way of being debt free!! "If I live like no one else now, later I can live like no one else"

Finally, I decided if I don't work out everyday, that's okay. It's not the end of the world. Instead of killing myself working out and stressing about it I'm starting with the smaller changes such as, walking at the park with my kids, eating at home instead of eating out, and limiting my soda intake.

Now I'm still in progress with all of these things. When I stopped working out I kept getting stuck at 155 lbs. With the changes I have made withing in 2 weeks I am at 152 today.

By the way when I find something I like, I love to share it. So see below for some of the online tools I use.

Dave Ramsey: If you don't know him visit the website. You can listen to his radio show for free or listen to past ones. He has a free podcast on iTunes as well. Yes he sells products but he also has the same steps free or go to your library and read his book. http://www.daveramsey.com/

Alice: An online store to buy products with no coupon clipping required. Although everything is not cheap you can find some great steals. I recently got Suave Shampoos and conditioners @ 60 cents each . . . shipping is always free! http://www.alice.com/referral/23F359BB

EMeals: I married young and cooking is not my thing. I can make a few dishes but it was much easier to go to the drive thru. At $5 a month I get 7 pre-planned meals that not only tell me what ingredients to use, but also gives me the directions for cooking and a shopping list with each cost of the item. This has helped with my budget. They have lists for Wal-Mart and Kroger. You can pick a family meal, a meal for 2, or a low-carb meal, a low-fat meal, or vegetarian. I've only tried it for 1 week and love it so far. My family is getting a variety of foods and its all in my budget. They haven't even mention McDonald's.
http://www.e-mealz.com/amember/go.php?r=69275&i=l0

Coupons: I still clip my Sunday newspaper coupons, but if you don't have that kind of time you can get coupons on bettycrocker.com or coupons.com and just print them off your computer. Plus you only pick the ones you know you want.

Dissapointed at myself

It has been one busy month.

I had 2 weeks left of ChaLean Extreme and before I knew it I had not worked out in over a week.

My job just moved me to start working from home, so I have been training, cleaning, and trying to get ready to be home. Plus, I'm really battling my sleeping habits. I hardly ever go to sleep before 1am and I wake up at 6am everyday (except weekends)

I'm disappointed that I did not finish, but just so you know -- I'm not finished!!

My options were to quit or pick up and keep going.

My decision:
I plan to trying to start my Lean phase all over again (the 30 days). My first actual day at home will be tomorrow. I plan to incorporate my workout while I'm at home so it can be a part of my routine.

Although I didn't reach my goal I'm so excited, because like I've said it's not about 90 days for me. I'm trying to make a life change. I know I can do this.
I want to make sure that even if I miss a week or even a month of working out I can just pick up again.

I would like to thank everyone for supporting me because although sometime I fall I know I can just pick myself up and keep going. Because my biggest fear is to give up and stop all together. It feels too good.

Day 56

Latest Video

Wow what a workout tonight!

Usually when I do Punch, Kick and Jam I sometime have to stop and catch my breath, but not tonight. I had great energy all the way through. It felt really good.

I went to the dentist today, but all they did was look at my tooth. I have to go back on the 11th for a root canal : ( In the meantime I have to take yucky Vicodin if the pain gets to bad. He recomended I take 1/2 to see if it will make me less sick.

Well didn't have much to say. It's late goodnight.

Headache!! Toothache!! Just sick!!

I haven't worked out since Tuesday. I don't know what's wrong with me.

My symptoms: toothache, headache lasting longer than 4hrs, nausea, loss of appetite . . . no not pregnant . . . I have an IUD so not typical.

I've been having headaches all week long and they seem to be getting worse. I think its related to the toothache I've been having. I made an appt with the Dentist, but not until the 27th. If my tooth's not hurting my head is hurting to the point of me being nauseated. Either that or I have SWINE FLU. . . joke. . . I hope not. I figure after I see the dentist if the headaches continue then definitely will need to see regular Dr.

Either way this has been putting strain on my body and draining me completely, and am in no mood to move fast (workout).

Last night my tooth was hurting so bad I took a pain pill Vicodin or Loretab.
I HATE taking pills. It took away the pain but I was sick to my stomach . . won't go into details. I don't know which one is worse the pain or being sick.

I've been going to work still. I push through the pain but I can see my productivity is not as great as it could be. So although I have a three day weekend coming up I don't think its going to be a great one.

Busy week coming ahead:

So this weekend despite the pain I plan to turn our bedroom into and office/bedroom. Why? My job is starting to offer working at home and they will be rolling it out pretty soon. I want to be ready for it. I'm so excited.

The hubby and the kids want to see Terminator this weekend.

I need a new fence - may save this for next weekend.

So the 27th I go to the dentist and either get a root canal or extraction. I really don't care as long as the pain stops.
The 28th I have a meeting at my son's school about summer school :( poor baby is struggling in reading.
One our church members passed away today, and will most likely attend her funeral some time this week. So sad. She left 4 children behind. A set of twins that are 4yrs old and 2 older children.
June 2nd gotta sign up kids for summer day camp (daycare)

I know it's Late!! But I did it!!

Well I had a good workout tonight. It's late but I did it.

I really liked the ChaLean program, but my excuses have been getting the best of me.
I'm too tired. It's too hot. It's too late. I'm too busy.

You know what I mean.

Well I missed a few days but I'm picking myself back up and putting myself back to work. I post those videos on YouTube to hold myself accountable. I'm the only one who's gonna make this happen.

My weight. Well . . . it's been yo-yoing up and down and that is all contributed to my diet. Not necessarily what I'm eating but when.
Monday I had an appt and missed breakfast and went to work at noon. I skipped my lunch to make up some time. I didn't eat a thing until after 5pm. So of course I stuffed myself when I got home. I could not stop eating.

I may be disappointed sometimes, but don't get me wrong. I'm still very proud of myself and what I have accomplished so far, even if I only lose 10 lbs. I went from never working out to working out 5 to 6 times a week. So as long as I keep this routine going then I can really tackle that diet and have it all. They may be small steps, but they are steps. I'm no longer standing still watching the scale go up up up.

Well time to take a shower and go to sleep. Goodnight everyone.

Day 43 and it's Friday!!!

I know it's been a while since I posted anything but that doesn't mean I haven't been working out. I'm still here and still on track.

Yes, I missed a couple of days and I'll make up for them as I get to my 60 days.

So I did really good for 2 whole days waking up early, but it didn't last. I felt so much better too. I just haven't been going to bed early enough to want to wake up that early.
I hate taking sleeping pills because I'm even more groggy in the morning.

My Weight:
Although I feel so much strong with exercising I haven't lost very much weight. I know it has nothing to do with the program, but more to do with my thyroid condition, hormone imbalance, and my diet.

This video was helpful to me; I need to reduce my Carbs but there are so many!!

This month is the push phase and I know I need to increase my calorie intake and could probably eat more, but I'm just not eating the right things.
Sometimes it's just so hard to do what you know you need to do.

It's early

I'm trying to workout in the a.m. now.

I woke up @ 5 am to workout for the last 2 days, and I gotta say it feels great. It just feels like I accomplished what I needed to and don't have to worry about getting my workouts in at the last minute. Also, I have the option to work out later if I want to.

I'm also sleeping better and it gives me more time to remind myself to take medicine first thing in the morning like I'm supposed to.

Almost there!!!

Three more days to track my results.

I don't expect a lot of change. I haven't been taking my medicine and eating right these last couple of week.

However the routine is getting a lot easier. I said the routine not the workouts. I'm getting very disciplined about getting my workouts in when I need to.

Tonight I actually didn't feel like I was going to die during the Turbo Jam AbJam. The first time I ever did this work out I could not finish all of the exercises. However, tonight the crunches seem to be so much easier and I could finish the whole workout.

Well guys . . .didn't have a whole lot to say. It's late. Goodnight.

I can't believe I worked out today.

I was not in the mood to do anything after Resurrection Sunday Church Service (Easter).

I woke up about 6:30 am and went to a nearby town a little over 20 miles out to pick up my Grandma. Both my mom and my Grandma were leaving by bus to visit my sister Michelle in New Mexico today, and I wanted to see them off. I miss them already.

So after Church I just wanted to be lazy all day. I just layed around, no energy, tired from staying up late (insomnia), but not able to take a nap. I was thinking about taking another rest day today (I took one yesterday).

BUT . . . I decided I NEED to work out. My weight has been slowly creeping back up. I have been eating out a lot this week. I have been drinking soda. My energy levels are going down.

This is due to eating habits and me not taking my medicine. I have a thyroid condition, hypothyroidism, and I haven't been taking my medicine.
Symptoms include: brain fog, cold intolerance, dry skin, fatigue, hair loss, WEIGHT GAIN, and insomnia.

So I'm just a mess right now. It's so simple. Just take the pill. I just forget -- maybe it's the brain fog . . . lol. I don't know.

This is my short term goal this week. To take my medicine every day.

I'm still here.

Today was a good day.

Nothing exciting. I had some camera issues and haven't been able to post a new video to my youtube account, but I have been able to fix what was the issue. So, I should have a new video up by tomorrow evening.

Eating habits not so good today. I try really hard to stick to water or my special K20 drinks while I'm at work, but I drank a soda today.
I originally chose Minute Maid Lemonade as an alternative for a Dr. Pepper. Then I read the label. This Lemonade had 260 calories, only 3% real juice and 67 grams of sugar. The Dr. Pepper had 250 calories, caffeine, and 66 grams of sugar. So I chose the Dr. Pepper.

My husband and I eat out on Wednesday's because our kids go to church for a couple of hours. So we went to our favorite Mexican Restaurant "Rosas Cafe" and I had a beef burrito, beans rice, and another Dr. Pepper. I drank my soda at the end of my meal so I would need no reason to refill. I didn't even finish it when we got home.

Now I know I usually keep myself in check so this is not a really a big deal for me. Also, on Wednesdays I usually keep my breakfast and lunch pretty light. I just like to look back on some of these decisions and think what changes I could make next time. For instance, next time I could ask for water instead of a soft drink.

Getting back on track

It's 12:12 AM Monday (Sunday night still for me).

I didn't get around to my workout tonight. So no more rest days for me this week. My next rest day won't be until next Tuesday. I have so many excuses but none of them matter, because there is no excuse.

I can do it.

I did however get my grocery shopping done and have planned out dinner menu's for the full week. I'm proud of myself for this. So no eating out this week. No excuses.

Well I'll come back at the end of this Monday and update more. Goodnight.

Later on . . .Dinner

5 hour energy shot

I don't like energy drinks, but my husband has been talking about trying the 5 hour energy shot that is being endorsed by athletes. It seemed interesting and I even discussed it with my sister because she is very knowledgeable about these things.

Well yesterday I dragged my feet all day and decided at 11:27 pm that I needed to do my workout. Of course it took me a while to wind down afterward, and because of my insomnia I did not go to sleep until about 3:30 am. I'm usually off on the weekends, but had to put some overtime in today from 8am-2pm. Nothing strenuous, I would just be sitting at my desk working on a computer for 5hrs straight while listening to my IPOD.

I just knew I was going to have a hard time staying awake for 5 hrs looking at my computer with only 4hrs of sleep. Seeing the opportunity to indulge my curiosity, I stopped by Walgreen's and bought me a 2-pack of berry flavor 5 hr energy (Per my research this was better tasting than the original), and took it.

First of all, I hate taking liquids of anything so my gag reflex is very weak. The taste was a little sour and because the top of the bottle is narrow it takes a while for the whole 2oz to come out. I would probably recommend pouring it into something wider so you could take it all in one shot. It was a little sour tasting -- reminded me of TUMS for the aftertaste. I didn't feel a big rush, but after a while I wasn't sleepy anymore. I got a lot done at work and was completely focused, and could feel the tiredness slowly coming back at the end of my shift. No jitters, no hot flashes, no real crash, but by time I got home I was ready to take a nap.

However, because I didn't get that overdrive feeling (like when I'm wired on caffeine) I was getting second thoughts. I wasn't sure if this shot really had anything to do with me staying alert or if it was because I just knew I had to work. So because I knew I was ready to sleep by time I got home I took the second shot.

I layed in bed watching T.V. for a bit waiting for big sudden burst of energy. Nothing. So I decided I would put a load in the washer before I took my nap. I took the clothes out of the dryer and decided I would hang that up while I was still up. I was putting the clothes in my kids closets and realized my youngest, who cleaned his room before he could go to grandmas, had pushed all his mess in his closet (kids were already at grandmas). So I cleaned up after him. Then I decided I would just clean up both of their rooms. Then I went to Wal-Mart and bought some containers and laundry baskets and came back and rearranged their rooms. I had realized I was no longer sleepy and I just seemed to be motivated to get things done.

My husband was so surprised. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to household chores, and he was convinced he definitely needs to try this product. He's never seen me clean house this much in one day and so motivated to do it without him telling me we have to.

So now I think may just try this only on Saturdays to give me that extra boost for my household chores and when I have to work. I don't want to have to depend on it every day. I will also limit my self to one shot per day.

I would like to think some of this extra energy is also coming from my workouts that I'm getting accustomed to.

P.S. For your safety please make sure you do your research before you try this product. Some people did report problems that seemed pretty serious, and this was my own personal choice to experiment on myself.

Thanks for reading.

Yesterday was day 15 (half way)
Did Burn Circuit 1 and Latin Dancing with Lisa (Cha Cha), gotta thank my sister for this one.

It's only Tuesday.

Well had a good day today. I really need to go grocery shopping so I can get to cooking at home.
I don't really like frozen dinners, but lean cuisine is actually pretty good to me. I actually prefer their pizzas over fast food pizzas because they are less greasy. Plus when I wake up late - I can grab quickly for lunch at work instead of eating out. Saves me money too.

I don't like to think that I'm dieting. I am just trying to control my portions and to really pay attention to what I eat. So instead of the 3 or 4 Dr. Peppers I would usually drink per day I try to replace with water or a Special K protein water.

I had a break yesterday with Dr. Pepper and I'm okay with that. Next time if I'm really craving a drink I'll try to either get a can so it is a smaller serving or drink half the bottle one day and the other half the next.

I guess the main thing is you have to pay attention to labels and count calories if you want to know what you've been putting in your body and correct it. Hopefully after a while I'll be so used to knowing what are good portions I wont' have to pay attention as much anymore.

Work out great/Eating choices not so great

I just had a great workout today, and it was very much needed due to my eating habits today. I started off the day really good, but didn't want to cook for dinner and ate pizza instead.
Plus, as hard as I tried I drank a Dr. Pepper today -- a full 20 oz.

Breakfast: Oatmeal packet and 8 oz of Folders French Vanilla Cappuccino = 190 calories
Lunch: Starkist Lunch to go = 250 calories
Dinner: 4 slices Domino's cheese pizza = 748 calories (wasn't that great either guilt probably); and my Dr. Pepper 250 calories
Snack: Tree top applesauce 166 cals; 5 wheat thins, garden vegetable 43 cals
Goal Calories was 1400; Total calories 1607

I find it so much easier if I plan what I am going to eat before the week begins and I just didn't do this today. Wish me luck tomorrow.

So even though ChaLean Extreme only has cardio twice a week I've decided to add my Turbo Jam workouts to my workouts. I think this is why I'm seeing weight loss so early.

My First Blog
